Description
A delicious Chicken Philly Cheesesteak sandwich that’s easy to make and satisfying.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper (any color), sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or cheese of your choice)
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Optional: hot sauce or additional toppings (like mushrooms or jalapeños)
Instructions
- Thinly slice the chicken breasts, onion, and bell pepper. Mince the garlic and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced chicken to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the chicken is no longer pink and cooked through.
- Add the sliced onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Reduce the heat to low. Place slices of provolone cheese over the chicken and veggie mixture. Cover the skillet to help the cheese melt, about 2-3 minutes.
- While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls open but not all the way through, creating a pocket for the filling.
- Once the cheese has melted, spoon the chicken and veggie mixture into each hoagie roll.
- Enjoy your Chicken Philly Cheesesteak hot, and add optional toppings or hot sauce if desired.
Notes
- Make sure the chicken is cooked through to avoid any foodborne illness.
- You can customize the sandwich with your favorite toppings.
- Consider adding sautéed mushrooms or jalapeños for extra flavor.
