Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls topped with cream cheese frosting.

- ¾ cup whole milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Warm ¾ cup whole milk and ¼ cup unsalted butter in a saucepan until butter is melted. Let it cool to lukewarm.
- In a bowl, combine warm milk mixture with 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
- Add 1 large egg, 2½ cups all-purpose flour, and ½ teaspoon salt. Mix and knead until dough is smooth, about 5 minutes. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
- For the filling, mix ½ cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, and ¼ cup softened butter into a paste.
- Roll dough into a 9×14-inch rectangle. Spread filling evenly. Roll tightly and cut into 9 equal rolls.
- Place rolls in greased 9×9-inch pan. Cover and rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F for 22–25 minutes until golden.
- Beat 4 oz cream cheese, 2 tablespoons softened butter, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, and ¾ cup powdered sugar until smooth.
- Spread frosting over warm rolls and serve.
Notes
- Ensure the milk is lukewarm before adding the yeast.
- Rolls can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator overnight before baking.
