Description

Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls topped with cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Warm ¾ cup whole milk and ¼ cup unsalted butter in a saucepan until butter is melted. Let it cool to lukewarm.
  2. In a bowl, combine warm milk mixture with 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add 1 large egg, 2½ cups all-purpose flour, and ½ teaspoon salt. Mix and knead until dough is smooth, about 5 minutes. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. For the filling, mix ½ cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, and ¼ cup softened butter into a paste.
  5. Roll dough into a 9×14-inch rectangle. Spread filling evenly. Roll tightly and cut into 9 equal rolls.
  6. Place rolls in greased 9×9-inch pan. Cover and rise again for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 22–25 minutes until golden.
  8. Beat 4 oz cream cheese, 2 tablespoons softened butter, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, and ¾ cup powdered sugar until smooth.
  9. Spread frosting over warm rolls and serve.
